Further Education Centre (Post-16)
In the Further Education Centre, provision is centred on Preparation for Adulthood (PfA), with a clear focus on independence, community inclusion, employment and wellbeing.
Learning is highly personalised and aligned to each young person’s long-term outcomes, with experiences that are functional, purposeful and rooted in real-life contexts. Statutory guidance for Post-16 learners, including PfA outcomes and careers education aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks, informs curriculum design and delivery. Accreditation opportunities are carefully considered where appropriate to recognise achievement and support progression.
Learning focuses on maintaining and extending independence, building confidence and supporting pupils to apply their skills in meaningful ways. Strong partnerships with families and external agencies ensure that provision is aspirational, coherent and responsive to each young person’s future.
