Primary Department
In the Primary Department, provision is focused on establishing the essential foundations for learning through communication, engagement and emotional security.
Learning is carefully matched to pupils’ individual developmental profiles rather than age or expectation, enabling each child to access education in ways that are meaningful and appropriate to their needs. Pupils develop early communication, shared attention, sensory engagement and the learning behaviours required to engage with their environment.
Statutory expectations, including Relationships Education, are delivered through personalised, developmentally appropriate experiences that support pupils to understand themselves, others and the world around them. High priority is given to communication, interaction and regulation, ensuring pupils are able to engage with increasing consistency over time. Environments are predictable, nurturing and responsive, enabling pupils to feel safe, build trust and sustain engagement, with success measured through meaningful, individualised progress.
